Posted on February 7, 2016 By

Places to Find News About Your Home TownIn the past, if there was something happening in your town, you would most likely hear about it from a neighbor or read it in the paper. City Websites

Most cities and towns have a website that you can visit. Each one has a “news” section where you can read about upcoming events and other important information. The city leaders use this blog to let residents know about impending road and sewer maintenance, festivals, and town meetings. Sometimes they will post holiday hours for city workers and trash pickup. You should check this site at least once a week.

Local Paper

The local paper is one of the best ways to find out what is happening around town. The reporters work hard to stay up-to-date on activities that are going on and to inform residents. If you don’t have the time or want to cut down on waste, most of

Your Online Newsroom How to Give Reporters a Tip

Posted on May 12, 2016 By

It’s hard to imagine a reporter working today who doesn’t regularly visit “official” company websites. And it’s hard to imagine just how much those websites have improved reporters’ lives.

Instead of calling a company for more information and waiting days for their press pack to arrive, reporters can now get the information they need in minutes with a few clicks of a mouse.

The above two paragraphs are obvious – so obvious, you might think, that they’re barely worth mentioning. But a quick glance at corporate and nonprofit websites reveals that many companies and nonprofits are missing a golden opportunity to sell their stories.

Most websites are good about posting their latest news and press releases. Reporters come to the site, see what’s already been announced, get what they need and leave.

But a few very clever websites are also using those visits to plant seeds for future stories with reporters. They “soft pitch” them on general themes or trends – not specific stories, but unique angles – from which reporters can tell a larger story.

The Urban Land Institute, a Washington, DC based nonprofit specializing in land use issues, does this particularly

Important News on Individual Retirement Account Investments

Posted on May 10, 2016 By

Planning for the future is something we should begin at an early age and we should teach this concept to our children. Unfortunately this wasn’t something that was taught to me by my parents as they didn’t really have anything set up for themselves. An individual retirement account will help you in the future days ahead. If it is set up properly, you could have a wonderful retirement life and not have to worry about finances, and how you will make it from month to month. I’d like to see our children being taught important things such as an individual retirement account in school, along with learning how to manage their money and making other wise investments. This article will give a few important news tips on an individual retirement account.

Planning your future can be a lot of work, but a lot of fun as well. An individual retirement account will begin by taking into mind the things you will want to do in the future. This might prompt you to putting away as much money as possible. If we don’t think about retirement days in advance, then we won’t plan for them either, and then

Tips for Breaking Bad News

Posted on May 3, 2016 By

The other day I opened a letter from my health insurance provider only to read the following terse statement. “NOTES 01: – Your plan does not cover your claim of $2,000 dollars.”

It was bad news – I was expecting a cheque reimbursing me for some major dental work I had done. It wasn’t even a letter. It reminded me more of the Monopoly chance card: “Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.”

The unpleasant news was delivered so bluntly that it kind of took my breath away. Surely they could have at least written something like, “Dear Sandra, unfortunately the terms of your plan do not cover X, Y and Z. Better luck next time.” Anything to soften the blow!

Breaking and receiving unfortunate news is something we all experience throughout our lives. However, there are worse ways and better ways to share unpleasant news, and the good ways make it a little easier for those on the receiving end.

Understanding how to communicate bad news is particularly important in these post-recessionary, challenging economic times. Whether the unfortunate news is about job loss or just telling the

The Danger of Forex News and Tips

Posted on April 14, 2016 By

Financial magazines and websites are full of Forex news and updates. You can also find tons of Forex tips from these sources or even from people on the street. Everyone seems to be an expert. The truth is that most of these people are far from experts in forex trading. In fact, some of them are totally ignorant of the true nature of the market and how it works.

That’s the main reason why it’s dangerous to follow Forex market news blindly. A lot of these news items and analysis articles are just the opinion of a single person and one who may have theoretical background but little to no real knowledge of the market.

The second danger in following Forex news is that it usually arrives too late for you to really take advantage of it. By the time something reaches a newspaper, it has already been read by thousands of professional traders in banks and financial institutions. They always get the news first. While you’re reading an article, so are thousands of other traders. This means that everyone is influenced in the same way. You don’t have an advantage, you’re part of a flock

Beggars Who Want To Be Choosers

Posted on March 15, 2016 By

Introduction

When we think of beggars we normally imagine people in tattered clothes looking not too happy and sitting in public places holding out their hand in the hope of passersby giving some money. This is the usual image of begging that most people have in their mind.

Sympathy for Genuine Beggars

I have sympathy for those who are in genuine need and who have to beg to survive. They do not do it out of choice I think since circumstances have pushed them to it. I myself give to them quite regularly for they must undergo some physical and mental hardships. At least they accept that they cannot have a grand and lavish lifestyle.

An attitude of mind that is in accordance to that very well-known phrase ‘beggars can’t be choosers’.

However, There Exists Another Type of Beggar

There are some extremely miserly people in this world who live in a property (that they might well own) and have regular paid employment. But, they have a rather astonishing attitude that it would be excruciatingly painful to have to spend even a few pennies of their own money.

They try to

Urbanization An Analysis

Posted on March 12, 2016 By

Urbanization is a process where people shift to city areas from villages and other backward rural areas in search of ample job opportunities. This is not a modern phenomenon as it has been happening since long in almost all the parts of the world. People feel more fascinated towards the modern living opportunities of city life. With the sustainable growth of economy of a nation as a whole, people who are inhabited in remotely located places, also feel to get uplifted as they are directly or indirectly impressed by the emerging economy and prosperity of people living in the city areas where industrial revolution has taken place and immensely affected the lifestyle of the countrymen.

Industrial revolution was one of the main driving forces which led the rural people to adopt the pattern of city life. Rural workers who sought good job opportunities moved to the cities to explore the new economic opportunities and to develop social mobility. Likewise, safety concerns in rural areas and the want of specialist services also took people to cities. Students who sought best education also moved to the cities to become noble citizens and best professionals in their field. Plus, the

How Much Can We Change Things Should We Try

Posted on March 6, 2016 By

How much can we change things? With yet more suicide bombings, world peace seems a long way off! In our little bit of Spain it feels very peaceful. Shop keepers are sprucing up their shops, and bars are pulling up their blinds ready for a new season After two days of rain, the first really wet time this winter everything seems clean and fresh. My leg plaster-cast is off and I am once again able to walk along the beach. The clear water of the Mar-Menor, ripples on the sand.

Whilst we obviously feel for the disaster victims, the homeless, the hungry it is difficult for the individual to make a difference. Even the various governments don’t seem to be making much progress at the moment. we can all donate, but it is like a drop in the ocean, there is too much to put right. There is the quandary do we feed them fishes or teaching them to be fishermen.

Is there an answer? Will it all eventually get solved, war victims flooding into Europe. Immigration. There are hungry and homeless everywhere. No wonder people just get on with their lives in apparent oblivion.

Does The Mainstream Media Use Fear To Distract People

Posted on February 7, 2016 By

If one was to look into what was taking place in the news, there is a strong chance their inner experience would change. This is something that will take place regardless of whether they were to read something or if they were to watch something, for instance.

As a result, they could end up feeling better than they did before or they could end up worse than they did before. But based on what the mainstream media generally covers; it could be said that they will be more likely to feel worse.

General State

So if one finds that they are generally happy in life, they can find that their emotional state soon changes when they are exposed to the news. This could then mean that they do their best to avoid the mainstream media.

And while this is then going to mean that they won’t be exposed to something that could make them feel better than they do, they are unlikely to be too concerned. For one thing, the mainstream media mainly covers bad news, and this means that they will gain more than they lose.

Another Experience

However, if one

Can Food Security Contribute to Economic Growth

Posted on February 6, 2016 By

Food security is in the news once again. First, the Supreme Court pulled up some states for their failure to implement the National Food Security Act, 2013, even after two years since it was signed into law. Then came the murmurs about the NDA government planning to allocate 130,000 crore to this Act.

Though food security is more often in news for all the wrong reasons in most countries, the fact that it ignites a debate in India, where an estimated 194.6 million people are undernourished (The State of Food Insecurity in the World, 2015), definitely comes as a surprise.

So why is a system that promises to do good to people, subjected to brickbats? It promises food grain entitlements for poor under the Public Distribution System (PDS), entitlements like mid-day meals for school children and nutritious food for children below the age of six, and even maternity benefits in monetary form. Why then, is it still receiving flak from most quarters?

It’s worth noting that the debate surrounding the national food security mission is largely fueled by unfounded claims and exaggerated figures. And amidst all the chaos, genuine concerns and positives of the concept

Do Celebrities Always Know What They Are Talking About

Posted on February 3, 2016 By

In today’s world, there are plenty of people who follow a celebrity or a number of them, and it is easier than ever before for this to take place. This is primarily because of the internet and how one can follow them on social media.

Before this option was available, one would have had to buy a paper or to watch TV, for instance. But nowadays, they can keep up to date with them without even needing to get out of bed.

A Number of Ways

This can take place through reading a status they have shared or through watching a video that they have uploaded. And the kind of videos they share can all depend on what they are famous for.

For example, an actor may share trailers for the films they are in and behind the scenes footage. A singer, on the other hand, could share music videos or concert performances, among other things.

A Strong Connection

And while these videos will have an effect on them; what is likely to have a bigger effect is when a celebrity shares a personal message. Through watching these kinds of videos,

A Publishing Company Without People

Posted on January 23, 2016 By

In a popular seaside resort on the south coast of England, a small publisher thrived for a number of years. Priding itself on the high quality of its work, the company won the confidence of authors who came back with second and third books, assured in the knowledge that each manuscript would be carefully proof-read and edited, an attractive cover designed and a volume produced to the highest standard. Authors were invited to call at the office to discuss marketing promotion and together with frequent correspondence over a number of years, personal relationships were established. Then suddenly without warning, all came to an end.

Authors received a long letter from another publisher, based in the east midlands, saying that the small company had been taken over and would continue to operate with the same name but at the east midlands location. It was claimed that economies of scale, integration of operations, etc. would yield higher efficiency. No mention was made about people, and it was hard to imagine that staff resident on the south coast would want to move to an industrial city far to the north. In answer to a direct question, the CEO of the

How Could Robots Challenge Humans

Posted on January 12, 2016 By

The debate over “if robots would overtake humans” has recently been heated up by warnings against the potential threat of unregulated development of robots from some academic or industrial super stars. However, what is obviously missing in those warnings is a clear description of any realistic scenario by which robots could assuredly challenge humans as a whole, not as puppets programmed and controlled by humans, but as autonomous powers acting on their own “will”. If this type of scenarios would never be realistic then even though we might possibly see robots be used as ruthless killing machines in near future by terrorists, dictators and warlords as warned by the elite scientists and experts [1], we might still not worry too much about the so called demonic threat of robots as warned by some elite experts since it is just another form of human threat in the end. However, if the type of scenarios mentioned above could foreseeably be realized in the real world, then humans do need to start worrying about how to prevent the peril from happening instead of how to win debates over imaginary dangers.

The reason that people on both sides of the debate
